Ah...remote worker abuse--a prospective can of worms! Here's some tips that might go a long way toward curtailing the "abuse": Have a dedicated and secluded work station somewhere in the house. Have a 'start time' and stick pretty close to a 'finish time'. This silently tells the family that you are 'at work'. Take scheduled breaks and touch base with the family at those times. Take a lunch break away from your computer. And, dress thyself as if you were driving to the office, and that includes toothpaste and a nice shave! These habits will reap notice and respect.

Ah... the "abuse" of the remote worker. This is something that my wife and I have discussed many times over. In the end, we agreed it would be best for me to work outside the home at the office/starbucks/where ever.

My office is 5 minutes from the house which makes it nice to come in for work and go home for lunch.

Plus, she likes the fact that when I am home, I am home. It does help separate the two and keep work at work and home at home.

This I believe allows us to work on growing a strong family while building a business as we are both in it together.
